Programme officer Matt Fowler's message from Emali, Kenya

Kia ora ChildFund whanau,

I wanted to give the team and our supporters a quick update on the workshop we've just had with the Emali Dedicated ChildFund Agency (EDCA) team in Emali, Kenya. It was nothing short of amazing.

Over 40 people from the the community attended this workshop, including the EDCA team, the dairy and moringa cooperative boards, the EDCA board, parents, youth interns, and other community members!

We turned up to the most organised and invigorated team ready for this workshop I could ever have hoped for.

We opened with a prayer and a few songs in Swahili from the team which set the scene for a really enjoyable and conversation filled day that involved a lot of honesty and straight shooting.

To me it really highlighted that the EDCA is 100% ready to progress on their own self-determined path to increased Independence, at ChildFund we must look at how we best support them within our partnership to ensure they succeed.

All the best for now,

Matt Fowler

We work alongside the community on projects across water, sanitation and hygiene; health; education; child protection; and livelihoods.
