Advocacy in Emali against female genital mutilation
Supporting awareness and advocacy against inhumane practices is one of the ways ChildFund New Zealand, with thanks to your support, works with communities and local partners to create safer communities for children.
Over 400 children in Emali along with parents and community members took part in an anti-female genital mutilation event organised by ChildFund and its local partner the Emali Dedicated Children's Agency.
The march in Emali aimed to raise awareness against the practice and was followed by a public gathering to discuss the risks of female genital mutilation to girls and woman and also the channels in place to report it.
Thanks to your support through child sponsorship and Child Essentials monthly giving, ChildFund is able to work with our dedicated communities (Emali in Kenya, Luangwa in Zambia, Cao Bang in Vietnam, Batticaloa in Sri Lanka, Cova-Lima and Bobonaro in Timor-Leste and across the Pacific in Kiribati, Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands) through our Road Map documents and Impact Programme to advocate for practices that better protect children.
With your support, we can help Emali reach its goal by 2026 of self-sufficiency in providing the basics to its children through improved access to water, sanitation, education, health, safety and livelihood opportunities for their families, so they can have better futures.
