Michael Prasad, Board Member
“We all have a limited time on this journey of life. We come with nothing and we go with nothing. I believe it's important to be able to make a difference to the lives of others and to be able to leave behind a legacy which continues to make that difference”.
My involvement with ChildFund New Zealand helps me use my financial skills to make a contribution in creating that difference. But the real difference to the lives of children and families around the world is created by all of the good people at ChildFund on a daily basis.
Michael Prasad is a Specialist Chartered Accountant in Public Practice with over 25 years’ experience and has been on the ChildFund New Zealand Board for over seven years and Chairs its Audit and Risk Committee. He is also a member of the Finance Committee of ChildFund Alliance. He has extensive experience and expertise in financial management, governance, strategy development and risk management.
He has previously held leadership positions with professional bodies Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (previously New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants) including being Chair of the Auckland Branch and was a representative on the New Zealand Regional Council and a member of its Nominations and Governance Committee. He has also served on many Working Groups such as the Special Purpose Financial Reporting Framework for Profit Entities. In 2018, he was awarded a Fellowship by Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand for his significant contribution to the profession.
Michael is married with two daughters. In his spare time, he enjoys his involvement with his community organisations including his local parish, watching his girls play netball and reading.
