2020 financial update
The 2020 financial year was filled with many unexpected disruptions.
For most of us, COVID-19 impacted the way we lived, shopped, conducted business and interacted with our loved ones. With all of the uncertainty that 2020 brought to New Zealand, we are pleased to report that ChildFund has ended the year in a strong financial position.
To accomplish this, we are always looking to reduce our costs by enhancing digital platforms, automating routine tasks, increasing skills in-house, merging and repositioning internal roles and so much more.
In 2020, we worked very closely with the New Zealand Government’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) to negotiate a new five-year programme for children and families in Asia and the Pacific. The $11.2 million programme, called IMPACT, will reach more than 100,000 people over the next five years.
We have also been able to align our focus towards COVID-19 response in the Pacific, thanks to more than $50,000 in public donations, $205,000 from MFAT and a further $74,500 from the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade*.
Our donors have also given generously to our programme communities over the past year.
While child sponsorship revenue has declined in-line with international giving trends, we saw a revenue lift in all other areas from 2019. In addition, 70 cents from every dollar we raised in 2020 was sent overseas for international programme activities.
These are great achievements, worthy of celebration.
